Meet Justin Gilbert

Justin R. Gilbert is a seventh-generation Texan and lifetime resident of Brazoria County.  Justin received his B.A. from the University of Texas at Austin in 2000, and his Juris Doctorate from Texas Tech University School of Law in 2003. While in law school, Justin was honored for academic achievement by his induction into Phi Kappa Phi, and ranked #1 in trial advocacy.

After law school, Justin joined the Gilbert & Gilbert law firm in Angleton.  In 2013, Justin became the owner and managing partner of Gilbert & Furey, PLLC in Lake Jackson.  His practice areas include civil litigation, personal injury litigation, commercial litigation, criminal law, family law, wills and probate, and real estate matters.  Justin’s distinguished legal career was recognized by his peers in naming him to the “Texas Rising Stars” list published by the Texas Super Lawyers publication in 2007 and 2017.  “Texas Rising Stars” recognizes lawyers across more than 70 practice areas who are 40 years or younger.  Inclusion is based on a highly selective process comprised of detailed and comprehensive peer nominations, evaluation and research – yielding only those who have both a high degree of peer recognition and professional achievement.

In addition to his law practice, Justin currently serves as a member of the board of directors for the Greater Angleton Chamber of Commerce, The BACH Barn Bash steering team, and Brazosport College Small Business Development Center Advisory Board.  Justin has also served the Brazoria County Bar Association (Past President and board of directors), the Southwest SIDS service organization (Past President and board of directors), the Brazosport Chamber of Commerce (board of directors), The Center for Fine Arts and Sciences (board of directors), and the United Way of Brazoria County (board of directors). In addition, Justin and his wife Courtney support many other worthy charitable organizations in Brazoria County.

In 2010, The Community Foundation of Brazoria County honored Justin’s service and dedication to Brazoria County and named him the “Young Philanthropist of the Year.”  In addition, Justin was named the “Volunteer of the Year” by the Angleton Chamber of Commerce in 2009.

Justin, Courtney, and their three children live in Lake Jackson, and are members of Covenant Presbyterian Church.
